World-renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Catherine Hamlin, who devoted her life to Ethiopia, passed away peacefully on 18th March, at her home in the grounds of the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia where she had lived for 61 years. She was 96.

“The Saint of Addis Ababa”, Dr Catherine Hamlin, laid to rest
A rare Ethiopian crown from the 18th century that was stolen and has been missing for two decades, was returned to Ethiopia on 20th February after it was discovered in the Netherlands. The crown was received by PM Abiy Ahmed, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, H.E. Dr. Hirut Kassaw, and other senior officials.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) announced that 29th August will be the date for the next parliamentary elections. Voter registration is due to begin in April and political parties can commence their campaigns late in May.

Ethiopian Airlines marked its first anniversary of direct flights from Manchester to Addis Ababa by donating rose bushes and bouquets featuring Ethiopia’s famous flowers, to Tatton Park in Knutsford, Crook Hall and Gardens in Durham and other locations across the North of England including Newby Hall and Gardens near Leeds and Renishaw Hall in Sheffield.
