Ethiopia will host the Regional Nile Day event on February 22, 2018 for the third time. Nile Day is an annual event held to commemorate the establishment of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) in 1999.

Ethiopia to host Nile Day 2018 celebrations
Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu briefed the Diplomatic Community on the current situation in Ethiopia. He assured them that “the Government is undertaking reforms and concrete measures in a bid to move the country forward in terms of ensuring sustainable peace, national security, and widening of the political space.”

The British Library has launched a new display, “African Scribes: Manuscript Culture of Ethiopia". The display explores the culture of a manuscript tradition in Ethiopia which extends back to the early centuries of the Christian era and highlights the intellectual and artistic achievements of Ethiopian scribes, preservers and guardians of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Church’s literary output.

InfraCo Africa has signed a Shareholders Agreement with Berkeley Energy, committing $30 million of equity investment to the ground-breaking Corbetti Geothermal project, doubling its original commitment of $15 million. 2017: Year in Review
The Ethio-Djibouti railway line has started commercial operations for passengers and freight. The railway, which is Sub-Saharan Africa’s first electrified railway, connects Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa with the port of Djibouti. Travel time will be cut from around 3 days to 10 hours.
