The Government of Ethiopia is Determined to Expedite the Peace Process
It is to be recalled that the Main Peace Committee established to advance the initiative of the Government to peacefully resolve the conflict in the northern part of the country has extensively discussed its progress to date, the current situation in the northern part of the country and other related issues.
Accordingly, to expedite the peace process, the Committee has deliberated upon and adopted a peace proposal that would lead to the conclusion of a ceasefire and lay the foundation for future political dialogue.
In such score, all necessary preparations are being completed to enable an expedited restoration of basic services within the enabling environment that would be produced once a ceasefire is reached.
In addition, all initiatives are being taken in coordination with the African Union to make it feasible to decide on the place and time of the talks, to get peace talks underway promptly, and reach a ceasefire agreement quickly.
The federal government has already accorded service-providing institutions to carry out the activities required for the implementation of these directives, and the Main Peace Committee has advised the appropriate subcommittees.
The Committee applauds Ethiopians for their support of the peace initiative and urges the entire individuals to boost and retain this support. Additionally, the Committee has urged the international community to cooperate with the African Union and contribute positively to the success of the peace initiative.
