London to Host the Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition
Ethiopia is one of the world’s leading producer, consumer, and exporter of coffee, and coffee, the country’s highest export earner. The Government of Ethiopia has paid due attention to maximize coffee exportation, owing to this, the country enacted a new coffee development strategy that enables production, value addition, export and improve the gains of small holders. Following the new policy, Coffee production in Ethiopia has grown steadily over the past consecutive years.
The Government of Ethiopia implemented reforms in the coffee value chain to enhance coffee production, productivity, and exports. The reform address challenges within coffee sector that demand improved coordination among the government and the private sector actors, financial institutions, service improvement by Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) and most importantly to improve coffee production and quality through strengthened research and development by coffee breeders.
Ethiopia has not yet fully benefited from its distinction both as the world’s origin of coffee and top coffee exporter. Considering this, the Ethiopian Embassy in London is hosting the first Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition in the United Kingdom to create enabling environment for Ethiopian coffee enthusiasts, buyers, traders, and connoisseurs so that exporters can directly connect with buyers and end users and showcases Ethiopian coffee so that consumers and buyers will be more aware of authentic Ethiopian coffee.
The exhibition will be a fun-packed, one-day mini-display of what Ethiopia has to offer in terms of its delicious coffees and traditions. There will be a traditional coffee ceremony, presentations, a cupping session, coffee tastings, and coffee samples from Ethiopian roast coffee exporters. Up to thirty exhibitors, including traders in coffee, a small number of Ethiopian exporters of green and roasted coffee, purchasers, and roasters from the UK will be in attendance. Additionally, major companies, coffee organisations, importers, coffee brokers, and coffee enthusiasts will be among the trade visitors.
