British Embassy hosts webinar on opportunities in transport and logistics
On 11th May, the Business Diplomacy Department led by Deputy Head of Mission, Beyene Gebremeskel, attended a webinar focusing on Ethiopia’s up-and-coming transport and logistics sector.

Organised by the UK’s Department of International Trade in Ethiopia in collaboration with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Transport and Grant Thornton Ethiopia, attendees got first-hand insight and a comprehensive overview into the various opportunities that are open for private sector investment as part of the 10-year perspective plan. 29 projects that are open for private sector investment were also outlined at the webinar including the development of ports, railways, aviation, and logistics cities.
Panellists discussed the roadmap for future infrastructure development and called for investors to participate in this endeavour.
Speakers at the Forum included: Yehualashet Jemere, State Minister, Ministry of Transport; Dr. Frehiwot Araya, Senior Logistics Sector Advisor, Ministry of Transport; Emma Wade-Smith OBE, Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, Department for International Trade; Mark Dittmer-Odell, Country Director for Ethiopia, Department for International Trade; and Ermias Eshetu, Advisory Partner, Grant Thornton Advisory PLC (Ethiopia).
With strong government backing and the potential to become a regional logistics hub, British companies are invited to invest in Ethiopia.
