Ambassador Teferi presents credentials to the IMO
On 7th April, Ambassador Teferi held a virtual courtesy call with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General, Mr. Kitack Lim, where he formally presented his credentials as Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization.
Earlier, Ambassador Teferi Melesse held a virtual courtesy call with @IMOHQ to formally present his credentials to the Secretary-General, Mr. Kitack Lim.

In discussions, Ambassador Teferi highlighted Ethiopia’s maritime industry and the various strategies that have been implemented by the Government aimed at improving the sector’s capacity, while also supporting sustainable economic growth.
Mr. Lim on his part vowed to work with the Embassy going forward as part of IMO’s mission to enhance links and partnerships among member states. Mr. Lim also noted that IMO wants to collaborate and help African countries develop their maritime sectors.
Though landlocked, Ethiopia has been actively engaging in the maritime industry since becoming an IMO Member State in 1975.
