The Ethiopian Embassy in London cordially invites all members of the Ethiopian community in the United Kingdom to an open forum held, in the spirit of togetherness, to foster greater peace and unity within the Diaspora. The Forum will be held on 16 March 2019 from 2pm.

Since its launch last year, the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) has so far collected more than $2.3 million following Prime Minister Abiy’s call to the Diaspora to contribute their share to the process of building a better Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund in full swing; more than $2.3 million raised
On 14th November, Ambassador Hailemichael and the Head of Diaspora Affairs, visited the University of Manchester to explore the many links the University and Ethiopia share, and discuss future opportunities. The Ambassador also met the very first batch of students from Ethiopia to be awarded the university’s Equity and Merit Scholarship.

Ambassador Hailemichael visits Ethiopian students at Manchester University
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid a working visit to Europe from 30 – 31 October, which saw him in France and Germany. However, the highlight of the visit was on 31 October in Frankfurt, where more than 15,000 Ethiopians from all over Europe braved the cold for the Prime Minister's first address to the Diaspora in Europe.

The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund official website www.ethiopiatrustfund.org is now live and taking donations, as of October 22. The Advisory Council urges all interested in advancing freedom, democracy, human rights and good governance, and the EDTF to make their USD$1 contributions.

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has announced the commencement of mortgage loans for Ethiopian Diaspora (non-resident Ethiopians and foreign nationals of Ethiopian origin) as part of the bank’s vision to serve and grow together with its customers.
