Venezulan Woman Wins "Miss Tourism of the Millennium" beauty pageant

Jennifer Schell, a Venezuelan, won the "Miss Tourism of the Millennium" beauty    pageant, which was conducted in Ethiopia for over two weeks and ended on Saturday.

Schell on the occasion vowed to promote the immense tourism potentials of Ethiopia to the rest of the world.

The winner said she enjoyed her stay in Ethiopia and loves the people and the culture as a whole.

"I will come back to Ethiopia,” she said, adding that she would promote the good image of the nation.”

Contestants from Costa Rica, Congo, Japan and South Africa stood first, second runner, third and fourth respectively.

Contests were also held in 16 subsidiary titles.

Accordingly, Hizbayesh Amare, who represents Ethiopia in the beauty pageant, won "Miss National Costume" and "Miss Press" titles while a contender from Somalia won "Miss Most Valuable Person".

A contestant representing Kenya won the title of "Miss Millennium Heritage".

Regional Miss Millennium Queens were also nominated with a view to promoting the Ethiopian and African Millennium through out the world.

Accordingly, a contestant from Congo, Serbia, Costa Rica, India and Jamaica were nominated as “Miss Millennium Queen of Africa, Europe, Asia and Caribbean” respectively.

State Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mahamouda Gaas said that the beauty pageant contributes a lot to promote the Ethiopian Millennium while adding color to the millennium celebration. (ENDS)
