UK Actress Emma Thompson in Ethiopia
Acclaimed British actress and ActionAid goodwill Ambassador Emma Thompson is in Ethiopia on a working visit.
According to the NGO’s press statement, Ms Thompson will visit the ActionAid Ethiopia’s development works that focus mainly on HIV/AIDS and food security, during her stay.
"The visit is expected to give her better understanding of the poverty situation and the level of response in the country as well as ActionAid Ethiopia's contribution towards addressing the issue....This would help her to carry her observation for wider audiences," the statement continued.
Ms Thompson is also scheduled to visit coffee growing woredas [boroughs] in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples State to see the impact of international coffee prices on households and the community. She will also be visiting some of the woredas where ActionAid Ethiopia supports regional development activities.
Ms Thompson will meet with Ethiopian President Girma Wolde Giorgis, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and former President Negaso Gidada during her trip.
