ETHIOPIA AND BRITAIN SIGN AIR TRANSPORT AGREEMENT

Ethiopia’s Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) has confirmed that an Ethiopian and a British airline signed a bilateral agreement on 9th March that will permit Ethiopian Airlines and British Mediterranean Airways to operate routes between the two countries. The agreement replaces two previous ones that were signed in 1972.

Two days of discussions covered issues such as destinations, flight frequency and en route stop offs; intermediate points will include Paris, Frankfurt and Athens.

The airlines will conduct four passenger and two cargo flights a week between the two capitals. The companies have agreed to raise the number of passenger flights to seven a week by the year 2005 and cargo flights to three a week.
