Tirunesh Dibaba led home an Ethiopian clean sweep in the women’s 10,000 metres at the 10^th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland on 6^th August. Tirunesh finished the race in 30 minutes 24.02 seconds, with Berhane Adere taking the silver in 30:25.41 and Tirunesh’s older sister Ejegayehy completing the lead trio in 30:26.00. Fellow Ethiopian athlete Werkinesh Kidane came in sixth with 30:32.47.

Meanwhile, Kenenisa Bekele will be defending his world 10,000 metres title later today, in what is expected to be the first step towards the double track title – as he has been selected to run both the 5,000 and the 10,000.
