Ethiopia takes 10k medals in Helsinki
Tirunesh Dibaba led home an Ethiopian clean sweep in the women’s 10,000 metres at the 10th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland on 6th August. Tirunesh finished the race in 30 minutes 24.02 seconds, with Berhane Adere taking the silver in 30:25.41 and Tirunesh’s older sister Ejegayehy completing the lead trio in 30:26.00. Fellow Ethiopian athlete Werkinesh Kidane came in sixth with 30:32.47.
Meanwhile, Kenenisa Bekele will be defending his world 10,000 metres title later today, in what is expected to be the first step towards the double track title – as he has been selected to run both the 5,000 and the 10,000.
