Proof of Ethiopian Origin

Accepted nationality support documents issued in Ethiopia are:

ü     Old or damaged previous Passport (if available);

ü      Birth certificate;

ü     ID Cards (from: kebele, and known other Institutions);

ü     Bank Book;

ü      Marriage certificates;

ü      Educational Certifications that state Nationality;

ü      Social Security Documentation (Pension payment certificate)

ü      Court decision documents;

ü      Car and fixed asset (i.e. land and buildings) property ownership documents and other similar evidentiary documents which state Ethiopian nationality.  

Current Nationality

ü     Passport or valid travel document issued by the country which gave nationality to this current applicant of Ethiopian origin. 

Other Applicants

If applicant has children under the age of 18, he/she has to produce:

o  Passport,

o  Birth Certificate and

o  Two current colour passport size photographs of each child attached with his/her application for ID card;

If applicant has a spouse of foreign national, he/she has to produce:

o  Passport,

o  Marriage certificate and

o  Two current colour passport size photographs of each child attached with his/her application for ID card;

Fees and Payments

ü      Applicants are required to pay £300

ü      Similarly, spouse of Applicants are required to pay £300 

ü      However, children under the age of 18 are exempted from paying fee

Method of Payment

We accept Cash payment. We also accept POSTAL ORDER or BANK DRAFT if it is payable to The Ethiopian Embassy.

(Please, refrain from sending Credit cards and personal checks, they are not accepted. The above method of payments are only accepted! )

ü    … Paperwork submitted in the manner different from the above will not be accepted

ü    … ID card processing starts only after we have collected all necessary documents (original with two copies) and payments  

ü      … ID card processing currently takes three working days
