Recruitment of expatriate professionals to serve as consultants for the establishment of a Training Evaluation Centre

 

General Mission

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia is seeking to employ expatriate professionals who are required to study and evaluate modules and curriculum development at the civil service college for each professional category of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and give appropriate advice on how a better curriculum could be developed.

In addition to this, the professionals are expected to provide training to existing and newly recruited MFA staff in the area of economic and business diplomacy, public diplomacy and constituency building and political diplomacy as well as general international relations.

The general mission of the work is to establish the basis for strengthening the foundation of the professional evaluation centre and its eventual transformation into fully fledged diplomatic training centre.

Objectives

The expatriate professionals are expected to play a critical role in establishing a centre which designs programmes to build the human resources capacity of the MFA as well as serving as a training evaluation centre. The expatriates will also assist in identifying scholarship opportunities available for training of MFA staff.

Professional requirements

·         A comprehensive knowledge of planning and evaluating work programmes relevant to the development of diplomats

·         Experience in the area of training and system development

·         Good knowledge of planning, preparing and delivering of training programmes

·         Good experience in the development of curricula and modules

Education and professional experience

·         PhD or MA in international relations or diplomacy or related subject

·         An additional PhD or MA degree in fields other than the field of diplomacy or international relations is an advantage.

Previous work experience

Professional who have served as diplomats for many years or who have recently retired will have an advantage

Those professionals who have recently retired from diplomatic service but who are still engaged in research or are serving as a consultant in the area will have a similar advantage.

·         Salary will be based on the following factors – the scale of the country from which the professional comes, their educational background, previous work experience, and the employers’ capacity to pay

·         Transport – the cost of a return trip plane ticket will be covered. Transport from workplace to residence will be provided by the employer.

Conditions of contract

The contract will initially run for one year and can be extended to three years, depending on the performance of the candidate at the end of the first year of the contract.
